People who love healthy streams and abundant wildlife have a huge stake in the federal Farm Bill, which drives day-to-day decisions on America’s farms and provides $5 billion per year in conservation funding to help farmers and ranchers be better stewards of our soil, water, and wildlife. But that connection isn’t always obvious. So the League set out to tell that story through videos.

With support from the Walton Family Foundation, the League hired award-winning videographer Kris Millgate from Tight Line Media to create four short videos that highlight the critical role the Farm Bill and state policy play in protecting wetlands, restoring water quality, regenerating soil, and providing habitat for wildlife. Kris spent several days shooting in Virginia, Maryland, and Iowa, interviewing League volunteers and other experts.

The videos were also used to introduce the League’s new e-newsletter, Soil Matters, which focuses on the League’s work to protect and improve water quality and provide habitat for wildlife through agricultural policy. You can watch the videos and sign up to receive Soil Matters e-news at iwla.org/agriculture.
