Save Our Streams Photo Contest

SOS is hosting a photo contest! Submit your best photos in the following categories: Macroinvertebrates, Monitoring in Action, Community, Pets and Streams, and Nature and Wildlife.

One (1) Grand Prize winner will receive a copy of Dr. Reese Voshell’s A Guide to Common Freshwater Invertebrates of North America, a LaMotte 4.5X MacroLens, a limited-edition Save Our Streams Anniversary t-shirt, a Save Our Streams waterproof phone pouch, and a collection of original macroinvertebrate stickers.

Five (5) Category Winners will each receive a limited-edition Save Our Streams Anniversary t-shirt, a Save Our Streams waterproof phone pouch, and a collection of original macroinvertebrate stickers.

Description of Categories

Macroinvertebrates: Photos of macroinvertebrates collected while monitoring. This does not include macroinvertebrates (eg. adult dragonflies) that are not collected or sampled during a monitoring event.

Monitoring in Action: Photos taken during a monitoring event, including participants collecting samples, performing habitat assessments, calculating stream scores, etc.

Community: Individuals or groups from public events, training days, education programs, etc.

Pets and Streams: Animal companions at the stream.

Nature and Wildlife: Photos of wildlife and nature found at streams, including at monitoring sites or recreational areas.

Contest Rules

There is no limit to the number of photos submitted per individual, but each photo can only be submitted to a single category. Submissions must be received by December 31, 2020. All photos must be original. Light edits/enhancements only – images with heavy effects, manipulations, watermarks, unnatural saturation, exposure, or contrast will not be considered. Entrants must obtain permission from any individual or group of individuals featured in a photograph before submitting it to the contest. Izaak Walton League of America staff will make selections based on the quality, composition, content, originality, creativity, and mass appeal. Decisions are final and in sole and absolute discretion of staff. By entering the contest, you grant the League a royalty-free, world-wide, perpetual, non-exclusive license to publicly display, distribute, reproduce, and create derivative works of the entries, in whole or in part, in any media now existing or later developed, for any purpose, including, but not limited to, advertising and promotion of the League and its website, exhibition, and commercial products, including but not limited to League publications. Any photograph reproduced will include a photographer credit as feasible. The Izaak Walton League will not be required to pay any additional consideration or seek any additional approval in connection with such uses.

The contest is void where prohibited or restricted by law.
