League urges Biden Administration to amplify citizen science and locally led conservation efforts

05/06/2021

WASHINGTON, May 6, 2021 ----- Statement from Scott Kovarovics, Izaak Walton League Executive Director, on today's report on conservation programs from the Biden Administration.

"The Izaak Walton League of America is excited to see the focus on supporting locally led efforts to conserve and restore natural resources in the Biden administration’s report Conserving and Restoring America the Beautiful.  The League and its 200 chapters nationwide are leaders in community-based conservation.

"As the administration acts to achieve conservation goals, the League encourages it to embrace and amplify citizen science. Prioritizing citizen science will help more people get involved in conservation where they live, reconnect with the natural world and play more active roles in policy decisions affecting our air, water and other natural resources."

Since 1922, the Izaak Walton League has served as a leading force for clean air and water, healthy soil and habit for fish and wildlife habitat. Today, the League plays a unique role in supporting local conservation volunteers and shaping national policy. www.iwla.org
