The Missouri River Recovery Implementation Committee (MRRIC) will hold their next meeting in Omaha August 8-10. The committee will continue discussion on the upcoming final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) and Adaptive Management Plan of the Missouri River Recovery Management Plan.
MRRIC is a congressionally authorized committee that provides guidance and advice to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Fish and Wildlife Service on habitat recovery along the river. At this upcoming meeting, the Corps will outline how it intends to address the public comments in the final EIS for the Missouri River Recovery Management Plan.
The League has represented conservation and environmental organizations on MRRIC since the committee was formed in 2008. In this capacity, League staff advocate for projects that will recover habitat for self-sustaining populations of native fish and wildlife species, reduce flood risk, improve water quality, and increase recreational opportunities.
