Last week, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) unveiled a proposal to determine which streams will be protected from pollution by the Clean Water Act. The proposal would eliminate all federal protection (which in many states is the only protection) for streams that only flow after a rain or snow event. Some other streams that do not flow all year long would also lose protection, but it’s not clear how many.

What is clear? Streams that will no longer be protected from pollution under the Clean Water Act flow right into our rivers, lakes, and drinking water supplies. That’s why protecting these streams is critical to our health and safety.

We need your help to tell the story of these streams and show EPA how important they are to communities across the country.

You can help by sharing a photo of a small stream or creek that is important to you. We particularly want to see streams that do not flow 365 days a year, which are most at risk. If you don’t know how often it flows, that's okay! Just let us know where it flows – like to the local reservoir, through your town park, or into a lake or river.
