Danielle Donkersloot joined the Izaak Walton League on September 6th as our Clean Water Program Director. Danielle has worked in the conservation field for over 20 years, with a focus on volunteer stream monitoring for the last 16 years. Most recently, she served as the Volunteer Monitoring Program Director for the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), where she launched a statewide citizen stream monitoring program. She created a quality assurance plan that led to a 20-percent increase in the state’s use of volunteer-collected stream monitoring data. Danielle is also an active member on the National Water Monitoring Council, where she represents the volunteer water monitoring community on a national scale.

During her time with the New Jersey DEP, Danielle received the State Public Service Recognition Award, the State Community Outreach Award (five times!), and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Environmental Quality Award for Protecting & Enhancing Environmental Quality. She has a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies from the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey (now called Stockton University).

Danielle is excited to bring her volunteer monitoring experience to the Izaak Walton League to help us reach our clean water goals. “The Izaak Walton League taught one of the first stream monitoring workshops I ever attended, and I have been hooked ever since.
