The Fort Pierre National Grassland in south central South Dakota offers a variety of year-round recreational opportunities and is an important component to residents’ quality of life. Those were some of the comments offered by the League’s Pierre Chapter to the U.S. Forest Service on its Environmental Assessment of the Stony Butte Project. League staff worked with the chapter on the submitted comments. The Environmental Assessment outlined proposed management actions and recommendations for improvements to grazing, hunting, fishing, recreation, and other uses of the grassland. Fort Pierre National Grassland is a popular location for resident and nonresident hunters and anglers.
