Missouri River Relief, a Missouri-based river clean up and education organization, returned to the Omaha/Council Bluffs area May 20. The League participated in this bi-annual event again, working to get volunteers on the water and helping to unload and sort what was collected during the event. More than 170 volunteers gathered at the boat ramp at Lewis & Clark Marina in downtown Omaha and were shuttled to areas along the river to pick up trash and debris. Despite a steady rain, volunteers collected 6.2 tons of trash in three hours. You can find more information about the clean up
on the Missouri River Relief website.
