The 24th annual Sioux Empire Water Festival was held at the University of Sioux Falls on March 14-15. Almost 2,500 4th-grade students from 48 area schools attended. The goal of the festival is to teach kids about the importance of clean water.
The festival included 33 exhibits, 27 classroom presentations, and many other activities. Thanks to the efforts of Jeff Clow, John Wheeler, and Phil Langer for the Sioux Falls Chapter booth at the festival. We talked to the students about the importance of clean water, wetlands, the League’s Save Our Streams
program, and the threat to our waters posed by invasive species.
