The process of writing the 2018 Farm Bill is under way.  The League and other conservation groups participate in the Farm Bill process because of the important conservation programs it contains. The 2018 Farm Bill may be especially contentious due to tight federal budgets.

The League will be involved in the debates on conservation compliance, Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) acres, the Agricultural Conservation Easement Program, water quality issues, and more. Michael Conaway (R-TX), chair of the House Agriculture Committee, said he wants to pass a new Farm Bill before September 30, 2018, when the current Farm Bill expires.
