Nearly 150 kids enjoyed time outdoors at the 3rd annual Great Outdoor Youth Adventure at the League’s Sunshine Chapter in Pierre. The event is designed to introduce kids and their parents to shooting sports, outdoor activities, and the area’s natural resources. League staff teamed up with the local Audubon Society chapter to help youth build bird feeders, learn about local bird species, and learn how to successfully feed the birds in their yards. The kids were also learned about the importance of keeping the Missouri River clean and on the threat posed by aquatic invasive species.
To encourage continued engagement in the outdoors, youth had the opportunity to win great prizes at the event, including shotguns, bows, BB guns, and other outdoor gear. The annual Great Outdoor Youth Adventure is co-sponsored by local chapters of the League and Pheasants Forever with help from many other local groups, organizations, businesses, and individuals.
