Miami County Chapter

of the

Izaak Walton League of America

Myles really loved catching these fish! He explored the trails looking for "nature mysteries" and learned the importance of "catch and release" fishing.

Who We Are

For more than eighty years the Miami Chapter of the Izaak Walton League has worked to provide a family friendly place for members to enjoy the outdoors.

What We Do

We work to preserve and improve our land and our lake. We hold volunteer days to clean and reclaim our lakeshore. There are fundraisers to raise money to improve lake access, restock fish, and other projects.

Our chapter's primary interests are focused on teaching and sharing the enjoyment of all outdoor activities. Our members include hunters, fishermen, campers, and hikers.

Meetings

There is one meeting each month. It is held on the second Tuesday of the month at our Chapter House.

The Chapter meeting is held from 5:30pm to 6:30pm. Officers and members meet to propose and vote on new projects, review past projects, handle business operations and exchange information.

For those wanting to join our Chapter or renew their membership we open the East gate and Chapter House before our monthly meeting from 4:30pm to 5:30pm. From January through June we also open the first Saturday of each month from 9am to 10am. New members are registered, dues collected, keys provided and questions answered.

Visit Us

Our chapter grounds and chapter house are located at 700 West 10th Street, Peru, Indiana, 46970.

The grounds are at the far west end of 10th Street which ends at our East Gate. If you are interested in attending a membership/information meeting and the gate is locked, please be patient, someone will soon arrive to unlock the gate and the chapter house.

Below is our west gate. It is located on N. Kelly Avenue after you cross the railroad tracks heading north. Located across from the Saint Charles Catholic Cemetary this entrance is only accessible to members. This entrance provides access to the boat ramp, primitive camping sites, the Funkhouser Trail and the south and east end of the lake.
