Izaak Walton League Hires Bill Droessler To Lead Energy Program (2/19/13)
Brings Decades of Policy, Partnership-Building Experience
Gaithersburg, MD – The Izaak Walton League of America announced today that it has hired Bill Droessler as the organization’s new Energy Program Director. Droessler will lead the League’s work on energy policy and education initiatives at the state, regional, and national levels.
“Bill brings a wealth of clean air and energy policy and partnership-building experience to this position and the League,” said Scott Kovarovics, Executive Director of the Izaak Walton League. “He can immediately engage with legislators, the Dayton Administration, and Ikes across Minnesota to advance progressive energy policies that spur development of renewable resources and promote energy efficiency. We’re excited to have him join our team.”
The Izaak Walton League’s Energy Program advances clean energy solutions to reduce the impacts of air pollution on our country’s citizens and natural resources, including fish and wildlife. The League was founded in 1922 to defend outdoor America for future generations. As we celebrate more than 90 years of national conservation success, the League is also working to address conservation issues that have evolved over the past nine decades – many of which are tied directly to how the nation produces and uses energy.
“This is an exciting and pivotal time for energy issues,” said Droessler. “Our nation’s energy concerns include more than generation, transmission, and efficiency. Energy policy is connected to transportation, land use, air quality, and other issues. Challenges abound, but the opportunities for environmental, health, and business benefits are greater than the challenges we face. It is an honor and privilege to continue the League’s strong tradition of energy work in Minnesota and across the country.”
Mr. Droessler has worked on environmental issues for major international corporations, state and federal agencies, and nonprofit organizations. Prior to joining the League, Droessler worked as Senior Director of Strategic Project Planning for Environmental Initiative, a Minnesota nonprofit working that builds partnerships to achieve conservation success. He has also worked on environmental law for the Zurich American Insurance Company, as Program Director for Minnesota Public Interest Research Group, and as Director of Outreach and Programming for 1000 Friends of Minnesota. Droessler holds a bachelor’s degree in Government and History from Beloit College and a law degree from the Environment and Energy Law Program at Chicago-Kent College of Law, Illinois Institute of Technology.
Founded in 1922, the Izaak Walton League of America (http://www.iwla.org/) protects America's outdoors through education, community-based conservation, and promoting outdoor recreation.
