National
Resolutions
As a
grassroots organization, the League’s members
develop our conservation policies by
considering and voting on resolutions at
convention. During this year's convention,
members approved seven resolutions by voice
vote. They will be integrated into the 2010
edition of the Conservation Policies
Handbook, which will be available online
this fall, but you can read a
summary of each along with the full text
here.
National
Awards
We had the
pleasure of recognizing individuals and
organizations from across the country who made
a difference in conserving outdoor America in
their local communities, states, and on a
national level.
Membership Awards
At the
Membership Awards breakfast, a record-breaking
39 chapters took home the League’s Defenders
Chapter Achievement Award! Each chapter
demonstrated a commitment to membership,
support of the League’s mission, local
scholarships, on-the-ground conservation,
effective communication, and youth
engagement.
We’d like to offer special recognition to the J.W. McCabe Chapter (Minnesota), Lois Green-Sligo Chapter (Maryland), Radford Chapter (Virginia), Suffolk-Nansemond Chapter (Virginia), and West Central Iowa Chapter (Iowa) – all first-time award winners.
The Bethesda-Chevy Chase Chapter (Maryland), Central New York Chapter (New York), Lincoln Chapter (Nebraska), McCook Lake Chapter (South Dakota), Rockville Chapter (Maryland), Sioux Falls Chapter (South Dakota), and Talbot County Chapter (Maryland) all took home the chapter achievement award for the tenth year in a row!
You’ll find the full list of chapter winners and the rest of our membership award recipients in the next issue of Outdoor America.
THANK YOU PENNSYLVANIA
DIVISION
Many thanks to members of
the Izaak Walton League’s Pennsylvania
Division, who were wonderful convention hosts
and provided an exceptional experience for our
youth program attendees. We are deeply
appreciative of their many hours of volunteer
service that made this year’s conference such
a success.
